Drillco 5 piece reduced shank S and D drill set. Are of general purpose flute design but all sizes have a 1/2-inches by 2-1/4-inches long shank. The maximum overall length is 6-inches and the flute length is 3-inches. This makes them short drills in the larger sizes and thus well suited to use in portable electric drills equipped with 1/2-inches chucks. They are highly effective in tough, high tensile strength materials. The 118 degree split point reduces thrust and eliminates walking at the drill point. Cobalt steel tools are similar to high-speed steel, but with more cobalt for improved performance when cutting harder metals such as stainless steel or nickel alloys. Black oxide treatment adds lubricity and creates small pockets on the surface of the tool that act to hold coolant near the cutting edge. Round shanks allow use with a wide variety of toolholding systems. When run in a counterclockwise direction (right-hand cut) spiral fluted tools evacuate chips up and out of the cut to reduce clogging.
